To the best of my knowledge, the Tragus is a modern invention. Placed in the center of the cartilage outgrowth on the front of the ear, aka the tragus. A little more prone to problems due to location. Additionally, it is more uncomfortable mainly because the tissue has to be moved to during the jewelry insertion
