In Season 2 Episode 48, DaVo covers the Pros & Cons of the male genital piercing called the Guiche Piercings. In addition, he covers what you should know before, the piercing experience, healing the piercing, Jewelry, and abandoning the piercing.

I aka DaVo have been a professional body piercer and the owner of the Axiom Body Piercing Studio in Des Moines, Iowa since 1994. My focus on education and helping clients make safe and informed decisions on getting pierced has always been a large part of my business practices and services. With my website and increasingly on youtube, I hope to expand and inform others outside of my small part of the world. I always encourage questions and comments, so if you have one, please comment.

Show Notes:

  • Pierced at the base of the scrotum through the perineum. Done with a ring or circular jewelry.

  • It creates a flesh tunnel.

History:

  • Richard Simonton aka Doug Malloy. created the myth that it was done by the indigence people of Tahiti as a rite of passage. There is no documentation that supports this.

  • The piercing was developed in the Gay BDSM in the late 1970s and then introduced into the wider world in the late 1980s.

Pros:

  1. Doesn’t interrupt intercourse as much

  2. A long history of healing

  3. Increases sexual sensation

  4. Can be done in a grouping

  5. Easy to hide

Cons

  1. Location Hygiene & Walking

  2. Uncomfortable piercing position

  3. More acceptable to STD

  4. Bleeding

  5. Can migrate out of alignment

Preparing & What you Should Know:

  • Piercer be experienced in this piercing, professional, informative and make you feel comfortable, and offer a consultation that involves aftercare, risks, etc… A piercer should evaluate your anatomy.

  • Your piercer should have experience with this piercing

  • Needs to be done with a ring(not hinged or seamless), circular barbell, or Curved Barbell

  • Piercing may bleed off and on for up to 5 days and may require a pad

  • Cross-Contamination Prevention

  • Does the piercer provide aftercare products and written and verbal aftercare instructions?

The Piercing Experience:

  • Consultation & Jewelry Selection

  • Waiver, Set Up, and Disinfection

  • If you are considering additional Guiche Piercings to form a ladder or plan on stretching the piercing, mention this to the piercer before marking.

  • Marking should be verified standing

  • The client gets on all fours

  • The area is clamped with forceps

  • The needle is inserted in and through

  • Forceps are removed

  • Jewelry Insertion:

    • If the piercing is done with a Ring, The jewelry is pressed against the back side of the needles and the jewelry follows the needle. The jewelry is then closed.

    • If the piercing is done with threaded jewelry the needles are pushed out with a guide pin with the jewelry threaded on, the jewelry is threaded onto the guide pin and the jewelry is inserted and closed.

  • There may be some slight to moderate bleeding.

  • Usually, you will have throbbing, aching, and warmth in the area for a few minutes afterward

  • Piercing is sensitive to the touch.

Healing:

  • The average healing time is 6-9 months

  • Clean twice daily with sterile saline spray

  • Swelling will last 3-5 days

  • Must practice cross-contamination prevention and isolate and avoid any contact with the piercing.

    • Clean hands

    • no oral contact.

    • Keep your environment clean

    • No Swimming

    • Keep Pets Away

    • Safe Sex

    • Wipe front to back

    • Avoid sitting with pressure on the piercing

  • Avoid playing with the piercing or excessive movement

  • First 3-5 days you can experience slight bleeding off and on, redness/discolor, heat, and tenderness to the touch.

  • A Pad will help to avoid staining clothing, reduce moisture and add Cushioning.

  • Avoid trauma and contact with the piercing.

Jewelry:

  • should leave jewelry in at all times

  • If it is Threaded Jewelry it should be internally threaded and the ends need to be checked regularly.

  • When choosing jewelry consider contact with clothing and bedding.

  • Once healed weights can be added for additional stimulation.

  • Glass can be worn temporarily

  • Thicker Gauge jewelry may feel more comfortable. Just allow enough time between stretching because of the risk of rejection and migration.

Living with the piercing:

  • If you have threaded jewelry check the ends at least weekly

  • Continue to avoid contact or stress on the jewelry and piercing.

  • Leave jewelry in at all times.

Chastity and infibulation

  • Guiche Piercings and Prince Albert Piercings have been used in combination as a form of Chastity play in the BDSM subculture. I do not advise doing this during the healing or something that is done for more than a few hours.

  • Can Damage the piercings.

Abandoning the Piercing:

  • If the piercing is still healing and there are signs of infection or another issue, consult a doctor or your piercer before removing the jewelry.

  • If the piercing is healing but there is no signs of issues, just remove the jewelry and monitor the area like any other wound.

  • If the piercing is healed just remove the jewelry.

  • These piercings scar and the piercing will appear open long after it is abandoned. Over time the scarring may fade.

  • The holes may produce a cream cheese-like discharge, this is sebum.
