In Episode 84, DaVo, a Professional Piercer since 1994, covers the Pros and Cons of Lowbret Piercings which is a lower placement of a Labret or Lip piercing.

I aka DaVo have been a professional body piercer and the owner of the Axiom Body Piercing Studio in Des Moines, Iowa since 1994. My focus on education and helping clients make safe and informed decisions on getting pierced has always been a large part of my business practices and services. Pros:

  1. Well established piercing

  2. Fits well into the shape of the face

  3. Can be done in groups

  4. Limited contact with gums and teeth

  5. A large variety of ends

Cons:

  1. Risk of Damage to Guns

  2. Ends can come unscrewed

  3. Closes quickly

  4. Can affect employment

  5. swelling

Healing:

  • Reactions to trauma 3-5 days

    • Redness

    • slight bleeding

    • swelling

    • heat/fever

    • tenderness to the touch

    • Effect eating and speech

  • Change in Diet

  • 2 weeks rinsing

  • Must clean twice daily

  • Downsize jewelry

Living with the piercing:

  • Must leave the jewelry in

  • Should monitor the lower gum

  • Doesn’t interrupt Sleeping, eating, and speech

  • Want to avoid trauma

Abandoning the piercing:

  • Will close quickly

  • will leave an indention scar
