Prince Albert VS Frenum Piercings Pros & Cons by a Piercer EP75

In Episode 75, DaVo, a Professional Piercer since 1994, covers the Pros and Cons of Prince Albert PIercings vs. Frenum Piercings . Covering Anatomy, Placement, Jewelry, The Piercing Experience, Healing, and Living with the Piercing. The idea behind these videos is to help someone decide between the two of them.

I aka DaVo have been a professional body piercer and the owner of the Axiom Body Piercing Studio in Des Moines, Iowa since 1994. My focus on education and helping clients make safe and informed decisions on getting pierced has always been a large part of my business practices and services. With my website and increasingly on youtube, I hope to expand and inform others outside of my small part of the world. I always encourage questions and comments, so if you have one, please comment.

Show Notes:

Prince Albert Piercing - Best if the person is circumcised. Though if the foreskin is loose enough to allow room for the jewelry it is possible. There needs to be enough room between the glands and the neck and enough distance from the urethra entrance to support the jewelry. Also there should be no visible large veins in the area.

Frenum Piercing - The outer skin of the shaft needs to be loose enough to pull the tissue away from tunica albuginea. Also the area should not have any visible large veins.

Prince Albert Piercing - Centered in the triangle that is formed by the glands and the neck of the penis. If the frenulum tendon is still pronounced or there is a blood vessel in the center than the piercings should be done to the side that the person “dresses”.

Frenum Piercing - Can be placed anywhere along the shaft of the penis horizontally to avoid stress on the piercing during intercourse.

Piercing Experience

Prince Albert Piercing - The piercing involves inserting a needle receiving tube inside the urethra. This can be rather uncomfortable for some men. The piercing itself is quick and pain recedes almost immediately.

Frenum Piercing - The area is usually clamped using forceps this can be uncomfortable depending how sensitive and/or tight the area is. The piercing itself is quick and pain recedes almost immediately.

Prince Albert Piercing - Easy heal usually around 8-12 weeks. Will have some spotted bleeding off and on for the first few days and tenderness to the touch. Some may notice discomfort inside the uretha and buring when urinating, this will fade with time. Sex when comfortable but for the first six month only when wearing a latex barrier.

Frenum Piercing - Also an easy heal usually around 8-12 weeks. May have bleeding off and on for the first few days and the piercing will be tender to the touch. Sex when comfortable but for the first six months only with a latex barrier.

With all genital piercings you are more acceptable to STDS even after the piercing is healed and will need to practice safe sex when switching partners

Jewelry Choices

Prince Albert Piercing - Piercing usually is best done with a ring or circular barbell. A curved barbell can be worn after healing but needs to be fitted to fit comfortably when the penis is erect.

Frenum Piercing - In some cases like a traditional frenum piercing, a ring can be worn. Also a ring wrapping around the shaft of the penis, however in most cases the best jewelry option is a standard straight barbell.

Living with the Piercing

Prince Albert Piercing - Many find the stimulation of the urethra increases their sexual pleasure and can increase the pleasure of their partner. The piercing will effect urinating.

Frenum Piercing - Some find that the added press of the piercing both pleasurable for themselves and their partners. Since the jewelry is loose fitting when the penis is flacid, the jewelry can caught on clothing.

With both piercings you should practice safe sex when switching partners.
