Hinged & Segment Rings Removing & Changing Body Piercing Basics EP115

In the 115th episode in our Youtube series Body Piercing Basics, DaVo gives instructions on how to remove and change a Hinged or Segment ring. 

Show Notes:

  • What are hinged rings?

  • How do they work

What do you need?

  1. Clean hands

  2. Examine gloves

  3. Water Based Lubricant

  4. A Clean Flat Surface to set parts on Covered with a clean paper towel

  5. Hemostats or tweezers

Removing the Jewelry

  1. Locate the seam and the hinge

  2. Firmly grab the ring and the segment area between your index and thumb of each hand

  3. Pull down or outward on the segment area. Make sure not to put any stress on the piercing

  4. lubricate the jewelry and gently slide the jewelry out.

How do you put them back in

    1. Lubricate the tip of the ring

    2. insert the jewelry into the piercing

    3. push the segment toward the seam and press inward until you hear a snap.

Tools

  • Hemostats or tweezers can be helpful in grabbing the jewelry for opening and removing.

  • Also can be used to pull or insert the jewelry into tight areas.

Storage

  • Always store jewelry in a clean baggie or container on their own. Do not store with a bunch of other jewelry
