Letting an Apprentice Piercing You, Should You? Body Piercing Basics EP106

In the 106th episode in our Youtube series Body Piercing Basics, DaVo talking about what you should consider and know before getting pierced by a piercing apprentice. 

Show Notes:

  1. How long have they been Apprenticing?

  2. How many of that type of piercing have they observed and done?

  3. Do they have a set program?

  4. How comfortable and confident does the apprentice seem?

  5. Is the more experienced piercer supervising?

  6. If the more experienced piercer needs to step in, will you still get the discount?

  7. If the apprentice mess up and it needs re-pierced will they do it for free even if it’s done by the more experienced piercer?

  8. Do you feel comfortable with the more experienced piercer making observations and suggestions during the piercing?

 

Apprentice Program:

  1. Observation only for at least 4 weeks

  2. 10 piercings done on volunteers

  3. Complete 10 of each piercing correctly

  4. Monthly evaluation on how they are doing with the piercings they have checked out on.

 

Supervision

  1. The more experienced piercer should be supervising during:

    1. The marking of the piercing

    2. The piercing

    3. The jewelry insertion

  2. They should give suggestions on how to refine technique, methods, and bedside manner

  3. After the client leaves there should be a discussion about how the piercing went.
