This is pretty much a rant about mobile phones. I've always been a bit of a gadget fanboy and over the years, I've had a number of them. Even though I will uses the same computer or TV for 10 years or more, with phones, I've always been driven to try and get the latest and greatest every upgrade. Out of all gadgets, it's the one that I can say has always been within arms reach at all times for over 12 years. Before that it was a pager. I tend to be very passionate about my phones and rather hard on them.

Yeah it's another geeky tech gadget blog. Well, there really hasn't been much going on lately and to be honest the reason maybe this. About a year ago I got the 3rd cable bill that was at least $5 more than the last. At that point, I had every movie channel except Cmax and Boardband. Sure that's a lot of entertainment and I rarely was without a thing to watch. The problem was in about 14 months that bill had doubled.

I and the Axiom lost a great friend and supporter of 16 years yesterday. There is no way to express the impact Paul had on my life as a friend, business partner, band mate and general partner in crime. Paul was one of the reasons that often when I felt it was time to pack it in, I kept promoting shows or kept on piercing. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it even when he had nothing. He will greatly be missed.

This is the worst winter in my recent memory and it has brought up a debate about just why my ancestors picked here to settle. Quinn and I have been joking about this off and on the last few weeks. I mean they got here after traveling god knows how far, struggle through plowing and planting, stored up for winter and then the glazer that is a long Iowa winter. I mean were things really that bad in the old country? Or were they simply just too lazy to cross the Missouri river after braving the Mississippi?

Well, if anyone follows gadgets or tech has to know that today Steve Jobs of Apple announced the release of the iPad. For the last 6 months, there has been an on going discussion of what this tablet would be and how it was going to change the way we use tech and interface with it. Today at long last the world got it's first look at the real thing and unlike the game changer it has been hyped as, it seems to be as earth shattering as a wet fart.
