DaVo's Blogs 2006 - 2009 Archive

This is an Archive of DaVo's Blogs from 2006 to 2009

December 11th, 2009 Report - Snow, Lego League and Moms

So on comes mother nature with all the force of a freight train and I get a day off and right now it feels like I'll never be warm again. Yes folks it is the dead of winter. Ever noticed that we always reference death with winter. Sure there is the natural connection with the season. Everything turns grey and the vegetation dies off or goes to sleep. The days shorten and without the modern conveniences, your average human would die.

September 30th, 2009 - Por Tu Placer

Lately I've been trying to regain the pleasure of writing. It used to be a drive or need than it became somewhat of a job or a chore. It came to light at some point that I no longer wanted to do anything that was a chore cause well, it was too close to being a job. This has been an on going pattern in my life since childhood. First obsession, followed by completely devotion, then frustration, followed complete lack of interest and dread. I don't think I'm alone in this. I've felt that you should be involved with something unless you are willing to throw yourself into it.

September 24th, 2009 - I love my bicycle, BMX,, Broken parts and Evil Kenevil

I've covered this subject in the past and in fact have a whole page/section that is about nothing but bmx - http://axiompiercing.com/bmx. It covers the past, my interests and who was involved but it really doesn't go into my love affair I had with it or what is going on now. In a recent conversation with my friend Stacie, she commented that I tend to always be obsessed with something. Not really in a negative way but in a passionate way.

September 23rd 2009 - The bastard son of the Church of Capitalism, Anti-Socialism

I was listening to an interesting interview last night on NPR on the way home. Didn't caught the subject of the interview, the name of the show or who was interviewing who but the thing that stood out in the few minutes I did hear, was how the cult of capitalism had created anti-social behavior.

August 2009 Part 3 - State of the Scene aka did the Digital star kill the Record Store

"I don't want to think about it, I don't want to see, I don't want to know the kind of fool they'll make of me, the public gets what they deserve not what they demand unless we all decide to be a business, not a band" Agent Orange - Breakdown

August 2009 Part Due - The Fallen, 1984, The Friendly Big Brother. Anti-Trust? and no Elvis Beatles and Rollin' Stones in 2009

Alright I had planned on doing only one of these and then kind of forgetting about and moving on to something else. But right now I have a lot on my mind and I think it might interest a few of you.

August 2009 - The world looks flat from where I'm sitting and how I'm feeding my tech libido

Been a while and I know it has. Well, I could go on to say that I just had so much going on in my life but to be completely honest I really haven't. Sure things have been happening but nothing that should have kept me from posting a blog beyond basic laziness.

Nov 2008 - Today I’m proud to be an American

I'm proud of all of you cause you voted in the largest numbers they are saying, since woman got the vote. That is incredible when you really start to think about it. The American public in fact spoke up and they spoke up for change. You are involved again and that is a wonderful thing.

July 2007 - Viva La Hairy Mary's

It's offical, the place has been sold in as of right now the future is unknown. It has been a clubhouse and second home to the live music scene in some form since the early 90s. The old location hosted such great bands as X, Mud Honey, L7, NIL8, Jesus Lizard, Ween, Billy Goat, House of Large Sizes, PAW, New Bomb Turks, Digits, New Duncan Imperials, Mercy Rule and Dumpster Juice.

Feb 2007 - Ten years & Ten Thousand Beers

In rebuilding Axiompiercing.com, I came across a lot of history that I had written on the site. It's been a long trip down memory lane to be honest. Some great, some, well I'm glad are burried in the fading past. Lots of lost friends and forgotten times and for the most part bitter sweet.

The June 2006 Report - It's a small magic little world after all.

Ok, It was a busy month and a few of you maybe interested but I doubt it. It all started off with a bang or should I say a Bang Sugar Bang. As they played Mary's with the return of the Chicken Hawks. BSB is one of the better bands I have been contacted by out of the blue and you should check them out. High energy, always touring good old fashion fun ass Punk Rock. Of course the Chicken Hawks have been pounding away for years and still can throw punches with the best of them. The hawks played a little short handed but still were worth the wait. What like 5 years? Also in Hawks news everyone should check out the new Sioux City Pete and the Beggars albem. Especially if you dig early Gun Club Stuff.
